Type .promo to open the Promo Code window, or type .promo followed by the code to redeem it straight away. A valid code sends the reward to your inventory. Each code can be used once per account, character, IP, and PC. Some codes expire, need a minimum playtime, or run out after a set number of players. Close your private store and finish any trade first, and keep enough free inventory space.
